Target Information
The KIF4A gene encodes a member of the kinesin 4 subfamily of kinesin-related proteins, also known as chromokinesins.
This ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor protein is involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles and associates with condensed chromosome arms, contributing to chromosome integrity during mitosis. It may also play a role in the organization of the central spindle prior to cytokinesis.
A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome X.
