Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, and offering the batch-to-batch consistency of recombinant production.
These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot contains a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.
Note: Formerly called “Recombinant polyclonal antibody”, now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ antibody”. The physical product and performance remain unchanged.
Target Information
ZO-1 forms complexes with ZO-2 or ZO-3 and associates with claudin, occludin, and F-actin at tight junctions, linking the actin cytoskeleton to the junctional complex.
ZO-1 expression is reduced in many breast cancer lines. ZO-2 and ZO-3 are ubiquitously expressed in epithelial tight junctions, while ZO-1 is also found at cardiac myocyte junctions.
ZO-1 may play a role in signal transduction at cell-cell junctions. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for the ZO-1 gene.
Diseases associated with ZO-1 dysfunction include Celiac Disease and Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome.
