Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.
Functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies, they recognize multiple epitope sites and provide higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot contains a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducibility and eliminating biological variability common in polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information
EGF (Epidermal growth factor) acts by binding to the EGF receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. EGFR activation triggers various cellular pathways in response to stimuli or ligand binding, forming homo- or heterodimers with other family members.
Each dimeric receptor complex initiates distinct signaling pathways via recruitment of SH2-domain-containing effector proteins. EGF is widely expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, functioning as a potent mitogenic factor.
Phosphorylated EGFR recruits adapter proteins such as GRB2, activating downstream signaling cascades including RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT pathways. EGF may also play a role in NF-κB signaling activation.
Defects in the EGF gene are linked to hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation is associated with cancer progression.
