Product Specific Information
MA3-088 detects SUMO1 from human and mouse samples. The immunogen sequence is conserved in SUMO1 of mouse origin.
MA3-088 has been successfully used in Western blot, immunofluorescence, and ELISA applications.
Immunogen: Ovalbumin conjugated synthetic peptide (C)-EDVIEVYQEQTGG corresponding to amino acids 85–97 of human SUMO1.
Target Information
SUMO1 (Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier 1) is a ubiquitin-like protein that can be covalently attached to target proteins either as a monomer or in polymeric form. Covalent attachment requires activation by the E1 complex (SAE1-SAE2) and transfer to the E2 enzyme (UBE2I), facilitated by E3 ligases such as PIAS1–4, RANBP2, or CBX4.
This post-translational modification regulates processes including nuclear transport, DNA replication and repair, mitosis, and signal transduction. SUMO1 is involved in targeting RANGAP1 to the nuclear pore complex protein RANBP2. Polymeric SUMO1 chains can be polyubiquitinated, signaling proteasomal degradation of modified proteins. Additionally, SUMO1 may regulate gene networks involved in palate development. Mutations in SUMO1 are associated with non-syndromic orofacial cleft 10.
