Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes human blood group A antigens, including monofucosyl and difucosyl A antigens with chain types 1 and 2, as well as A antigens with chain types 3, 4, 5, and 6. It also recognizes the Forssman antigen.
Target Information
Blood-group antigens are formed by sequential addition of saccharides to carbohydrate side chains of lipids and proteins on erythrocytes and epithelial cells. The A, B, and H antigens may undergo modulation during malignant cellular transformation. Blood group-related antigens are carbohydrate determinants carried on glycolipids and glycoproteins, often mucin-type, detected on erythrocytes, epithelial cells, and in secretions. Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but inter-related specificities belong to this group, including A, B, H, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens.
