This antibody recognizes a common extracellular epitope on human HLA-DR that depends on the association of alpha and beta chains.
HLA-DR is an isotype of human MHC Class II molecules expressed on antigen-presenting cells (dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages).

Target Information

HLA-DR is a transmembrane glycoprotein composed of a 36 kDa alpha chain (DRA) and a 27 kDa beta chain (DRB).

• The alpha chain gene (DRA) has 5 exons:
  • Exon 1: leader peptide
  • Exons 2–3: extracellular domains
  • Exon 4: transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains
• DRA acts as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5.
• The beta chain (DRB) carries polymorphisms defining peptide-binding specificity.
• HLA-DR is expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as B cells, monocytes, macrophages, thymic epithelial cells, and activated T cells.
• MHC class II molecules (DR, DQ, DP) present processed peptides to T-helper cells, initiating immune responses.

HLA and MHC antibodies are valuable in Immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens via LC-MS/MS analysis.
