This antibody reacts with human blood group B. The specificity of the antibody HEB-29 was confirmed by comparison of specificity and reactivity to standard reagent using over 5,000 blood samples.
Target Information
Blood-group antigens are molecules formed by sequential addition of saccharides to carbohydrate side chains of lipids and proteins, detected on erythrocytes and certain epithelial cells.
A, B, and H antigens may undergo modulation during malignant transformation. These antigens represent carbohydrate determinants carried on glycolipids and glycoproteins, typically mucin-type, found on erythrocytes, epithelial cells, and in secretions of some individuals.
Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but interrelated specificities belong to this group, including A, B, H, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens.
