Product Specific Information
Interleukin-10 (IL-10), also known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF), is an 18.6 kDa protein composed of 160 amino acids and shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI.
IL-10 exhibits multiple biological activities, including:
- Inhibition of macrophage-mediated cytokine synthesis
- Suppression of delayed-type hypersensitivity response
- Stimulation of Th2 cell response leading to elevated antibody production
Mouse IL-10 is produced by various cell types, including activated Th2 cells, fetal thymocytes, monocytes/macrophages, keratinocytes, B cells, and glial cells.
Purity: >98%
Molecular Weight: 18.7 kDa
Target Information
IL-10 encodes a cytokine primarily produced by monocytes, with some production by lymphocytes. It plays key roles in immunoregulation and inflammation through:
- Down-regulation of Th1 cytokines, MHC class II antigens, and costimulatory molecules on macrophages
- Enhancement of B cell survival, proliferation, and antibody production
- Inhibition of NF-kappa B activity
- Regulation of the JAK-STAT signaling pathway
Knockout studies in mice indicate IL-10 is essential for intestinal immune regulation.
Mutations in IL10 are associated with increased susceptibility to HIV-1 infection and rheumatoid arthritis.
Diseases linked to IL10 include Graft-Versus-Host Disease and Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
