Target Information
CD204 gene encodes the class A macrophage scavenger receptors, which include three different types (1, 2, 3) generated by alternative splicing. These macrophage-specific trimeric integral membrane glycoproteins are involved in physiological and pathological processes such as atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and host defense.
- Isoform 1 & 2: Functional receptors mediating endocytosis of modified LDLs
- Isoform 3: Non-functional in endocytosis due to altered intracellular processing; can inhibit isoforms 1 and 2 (dominant negative effect)
