Target Information
The gene encodes a cytokine specifically induced by apoptosis, involved in the regulation of angiogenesis, inflammation, and wound healing.
Release of this cytokine sensitizes tumor-associated vasculature to tumor necrosis factor.
The precursor protein corresponds to the p43 subunit of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex, modulating aminoacylation activity in normal cells.
After proteolytic cleavage in tumor cells, it stimulates inflammatory responses.
Multiple transcript variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 20 have been identified.
