Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells.
Forced expression of the MyoD (human homolog is myf3) gene in various normal and neoplastic cells can either convert them to muscle cells or activate otherwise inactive muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD gene product lies within a 70 amino acid region and includes a basic DNA binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Three other genes share sequence homology for the basic HLH domain of MyoD: myf5, myogenin (human homolog is myf4), and myf6 (also known as MRF4 and herculin).
