Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells. Forced expression of the MyoD (human homolog: myf3) gene in various normal and neoplastic cells can either convert cells to muscle cells or activate transcriptionally inactive muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD gene product lies within a 70 amino acid region containing a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Other related genes sharing sequence homology for the basic HLH domain include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4, herculin).
