Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The MyoD (Myogenic determination gene) was first identified for its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells into muscle cells.
Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog myf3) in various normal and neoplastic cells can induce muscle cell conversion or activate otherwise silent muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of MyoD lies within a 70 amino acid region containing a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Related genes sharing sequence homology in the basic HLH domain include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4, herculin).
