Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human PEDF. Anti-Human PEDF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human PEDF by sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well), use at 0.25–1.0 µg/mL. When paired with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human PEDF (500-P263) as a capture antibody, detection sensitivity is 2000–4000 pg/mL of Recombinant Human PEDF.

Western Blot:
For detection of Human PEDF by Western blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Detection limit: 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

PEDF (Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor) is a noninhibitory serpin with neurotrophic, anti-angiogenic, and anti-tumorigenic properties. It is a 50 kDa glycoprotein expressed in various tissues. PEDF induces apoptosis in proliferating endothelial cells and inhibits angiogenic factors such as VEGF and FGF-2. Its neuroprotective effects are mediated through suppression of neuronal apoptosis caused by oxidative stress or neurotoxins.

PEDF-R, a lipase-linked cell membrane receptor, binds PEDF with high affinity and plays a key role in its signaling. PEDF is considered a potential therapeutic target for vasculature-related neurodegenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), as well as angiogenesis-related cancers.
