Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prohibitin is encoded by an evolutionarily conserved gene that is ubiquitously expressed. It acts as a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may function as a tumor suppressor.
Mutations in the PHB gene have been associated with sporadic breast cancer.
Prohibitin is expressed as two transcripts differing in the length of their 3′ untranslated region. The longer transcript is more abundant in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting that this region may serve as a trans-acting regulatory RNA.
