Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues, heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prohibitin is encoded by an evolutionarily conserved gene expressed ubiquitously. It is believed to act as a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may serve as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in the PHB gene have been associated with sporadic breast cancer. Two transcripts are expressed, differing in the length of their 3′ untranslated region. The longer transcript is more abundant in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting a regulatory role as a trans-acting RNA.
