Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved gene that is ubiquitously expressed. It acts as a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may function as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in PHB have been associated with sporadic breast cancer.
Prohibitin is expressed as two transcripts with varying lengths of the 3′ untranslated region. The longer transcript is present at higher levels in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting that this longer 3′ untranslated region may function as a trans-acting regulatory RNA.
