Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis regulation. Overexpression and gene amplification of p70 S6 kinase have been observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
