Target Information
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin-4 receptor. IL-4 exhibits a broad range of biological activities. The IL-4 receptor also binds IL-13, contributing to overlapping functions between these cytokines. STAT6 acts as a key mediator in IL-4 signaling. The IL-4 gene, along with IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q. IL-4 is located near IL-13, and both genes, along with IL-5, are co-regulated by long-range elements spanning approximately 120 kb. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant of IL-4.
