Product Specific Information

This COX 229 monoclonal antibody recognizes human COX2 (PTGS2). It has been reported to cross-react with mouse and rat COX2.
For optimal performance, use with the Foxp3 / Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set and protocol.
Recommended for intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis of stimulated human peripheral blood cells.

Careful titration is recommended for optimal assay performance.

Fluorophore Information:
eFluor™ 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue™, excited by the violet laser (405 nm) and emits at 446 nm. Ensure your instrument can detect this fluorochrome.

Target Information

COX2 (Cyclooxygenase-2) converts arachidonate to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), a key step in prostanoid synthesis and inflammation.
It is constitutively expressed in endothelium, kidney, and brain, and upregulated in cancer and inflammation.
Overexpression is associated with increased cell adhesion, resistance to apoptosis, and tumor angiogenesis.
COX2 is inhibited by calcitriol (active Vitamin D) and targeted by NSAIDs such as aspirin to reduce inflammation.
