Target Information
Stromelysin (MMP-11) is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family with broad substrate specificity, capable of degrading proteoglycan, fibronectin, laminin, casein, and nonhelical regions of collagen.
The stromelysin-3 (MMP-11) gene is expressed specifically in stromal cells surrounding invasive breast carcinomas and localized to chromosome 22. MMP-11 expression is more frequently observed in malignant tumors than in benign ones.
