- Dilution Recommendation: Further dilutions should be made in medium or buffered solution containing carrier protein such as PBS with 0.1% BSA.
- Storage: Store human IFN-Alpha 2 at -70°C. Upon initial thawing, apportion contents into working aliquots and store at -70°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Interferon alpha-2b is a cytokine belonging to the type I interferon family, encoded by a gene cluster on chromosome 9. It is produced in response to viral infection and plays a key role in the innate immune response, exhibiting potent antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory properties.
This cytokine binds to the plasma membrane receptor complex IFNAR1/IFNAR2, expressed ubiquitously across tissues, enabling broad cellular activity. It has demonstrated efficacy in reducing symptoms and duration of the common cold and in treating various cancers, including hematologic malignancies and solid tumors.
Deficiency of type I interferon is considered a hallmark of severe COVID-19, and interferon alpha-2b combination therapy may be a potential therapeutic approach. IFNA2 has been associated with diseases such as Severe COVID-19 and Hepatitis B.
