Target Information

HLA-DPB belongs to the HLA class II beta chain paralogues. This molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha (DPA) and a beta chain (DPB), both membrane-anchored. It plays a key role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins.
Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APC: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages). The beta chain (~26–28 kDa) gene contains 6 exons:

• Exon 1: leader peptide
• Exons 2–3: extracellular domains
• Exon 4: transmembrane domain
• Exon 5: cytoplasmic tail

Within the DP molecule, both alpha and beta chains contain polymorphisms specifying peptide binding specificities, resulting in up to four different molecules.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential in Immunopeptidomics, aiding identification and characterization of neoantigens via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
