Target Information
Aquaporin 4 (AQP4), also known as the mercurial-insensitive water channel, is localized to the sarcolemma of fast-twitch muscle fibers in skeletal muscle.
Aquaporins (AQPs) are integral membrane proteins that facilitate water transport across cell membranes and are conserved across animals, plants, and bacteria.
Multiple isoforms (AQP0–AQP10) exist in mammals, often co-expressed in the same cell. While most AQPs are selective for water, AQP3, AQP7, AQP9, and one AQP10 isoform also transport urea and glycerol.
