Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine IL-1α. The anti-Murine IL-1α-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography using an immobilized Murine IL-1α matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Murine IL-1α by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody. In conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Murine IL-1α (500-P51ABt) as a detection antibody, it allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine IL-1α.

Western Blot:
For detection of Murine IL-1α by Western Blot, use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL of this antibody. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-1 alpha (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene and signals through two receptors, IL-1RI and IL-1RII, which are shared with IL-1β.
Located on chromosome 2q13, IL-1α plays a key role in innate immunity, triggering production of other proinflammatory cytokines and initiating acute-phase responses. Its activity is regulated by IL-1RA (IL-1 Receptor Antagonist), which competitively inhibits receptor binding.
IL-1α participates in immune response, inflammation, and hematopoiesis, and is produced as a proprotein that is proteolytically processed upon cell injury to induce apoptosis. It regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, and enhances IL-6, COX-2, and nitric oxide production. Elevated IL-1α levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
