Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha depending on the ligand. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is near genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, potentially involved in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
