Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages include:

  • Improved specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to the larger rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is a neurotransmitter that exerts diverse physiological effects by binding to various receptor subtypes, including the 5-HT2 family of G-protein-coupled receptors.
The gene encodes the 2C subtype of serotonin receptor, whose mRNA undergoes multiple RNA editing events converting adenosine to inosine residues. These editing events can alter amino acids within the second intracellular loop, generating receptor isoforms with differing abilities to interact with G proteins and activate phospholipase C and D signaling pathways.
Such modifications modulate serotonergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. Abnormal 5-HT2C editing patterns have been reported in depressed suicide victims.
