Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for Connexin 30. Cross-reactivity with Connexin 26 or other Connexin family members has not been detected. Reactivity confirmed by western blotting using cell lysates from adult rat, mouse, human, and cat brains.
Target Information
Gap junctions facilitate ion and metabolite transport between adjacent cells. They consist of two hemichannels, each formed by six connexin proteins. Connexins have four transmembrane segments, two extracellular loops, and cytoplasmic N- and C-termini. The specificity of gap junctions depends on which connexins form the hemichannel. Mutations in the Connexin 30 gene are associated with certain forms of deafness and hidrotic ectodermal dysplasia.
