Target Information

Protein NUMB homolog is an evolutionarily conserved protein that regulates the differentiation of neuronal progenitor cells. NUMB participates in clathrin-dependent endocytosis via binding to the AP-2 complex. It is expressed in postmitotic neurons and influences axonal growth. Neural cells expressing Numb isoforms with short phosphotyrosine-binding (SPTB) domains exhibit extensive neurite outgrowth, which can be inhibited by voltage-gated Ca²⁺ channel blockers or Ca²⁺ chelators.
