이 항체는 GFAP를 함유한 세포를 염색하며, 조잡한 뇌 추출물에서 수행된 면역블롯에서 56kD GFAP 밴드만을 염색합니다. 또한 마우스 GFAP와도 반응합니다.
Target Information
GFAP(Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속합니다. 주로 중추신경계의 성상세포(astrocyte) 및 일부 astroglia, 말초 신경절의 위성세포, 비수초성 슈반세포 등에 강하게 발현됩니다. 신경줄기세포 또한 GFAP를 강하게 발현하며, GFAP 항체는 astrocytic 세포의 마커로 매우 유용합니다. 또한 여러 유형의 뇌종양(astrocytic cell 유래)에서도 GFAP가 강하게 발현됩니다. GFAP는 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 타액선 종양의 일부 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고된 바 있습니다. GFAP는 발달 과정 중 astrocyte와 다른 교세포를 구분하는 마커로 사용됩니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 중추신경계의 astrocyte 이상 질환인 Alexander disease를 유발합니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사 변이체가 존재하며, 이들은 상이한 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
