This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, canine, mouse, porcine, rabbit, and rat based on sequence homology.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is brain tissue.

Target Information

Synuclein family of proteins is abundantly expressed in neuronal cytosol and presynaptic terminals. In vertebrates, they are encoded by three different genes.
Synucleins have been implicated in major diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and breast cancer.

• In AD, a peptide derived from alpha-synuclein forms a component of amyloid plaques.
• In PD, alpha-synuclein accumulates in Lewy bodies, and certain alleles are linked to familial PD.
• In breast cancer, increased expression of gamma-synuclein correlates with disease progression.

Synucleins appear to be involved in membrane plasticity in the developing song control system of songbirds.
