Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein present in all cell types and plays key roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity.
Beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin), a two-stranded helical structure.
Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta actin is frequently used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies against beta actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
