Target Information
VE-cadherin is a member of the cadherin superfamily located on chromosome 16. It plays a critical role in endothelial cell biology by mediating calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion and maintaining intercellular junction integrity. VE-cadherin consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It is implicated in tumorigenesis through loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. An alternative splice variant has been described, though the full-length sequence has not been fully determined.
