Product Specific Information
- For Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis, functioning to either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family dimerize to modulate apoptosis.
- Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect.
- Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis.
- Constitutive expression of BCL-2, such as translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is associated with follicular lymphoma.
- Neoplastic germinal centers in follicular lymphoma express high levels of BCL-2 alpha protein, unlike normal or hyperplastic centers.
- Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ at their C-terminal ends.
- Overexpression of BCL-2 is linked to cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
