Product Specific Information

  • Preparation: This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Human CD3 (Met1-Ala105 & Met1-Asp126) and conjugated with FITC under optimum conditions. The unreacted FITC was removed.
  • Storage: Store at 2°C–8°C for twelve months without detectable loss of activity. Protect from prolonged exposure to light. Do not freeze.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial in transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating the cell surface expression of the TCR complex. T cell activation involves CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by genes on human chromosome 11.

CD3 components have long cytoplasmic tails that associate with signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif. CD3 may play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation. The CD3 antigen is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells. Decreased T lymphocyte percentages may occur in autoimmune diseases. Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
