Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Oncostatin M. Anti-Human Oncostatin M-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human Oncostatin M matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human Oncostatin M by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human Oncostatin M (500-P30Bt) as a detection antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human Oncostatin M.

Western Blot:
To detect hOncostatin M by Western Blot analysis, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. In conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hOncostatin M is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Oncostatin M (OSM) is a growth and differentiation factor involved in the regulation of neurogenesis, osteogenesis, and hematopoiesis. Produced by activated T cells, monocytes, and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, OSM can exert both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, but inhibits the growth of some normal and tumor cell lines. OSM also promotes cytokine release (e.g., IL-6, GM-CSF, and G-CSF) from endothelial cells and enhances expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors in hepatoma cells. It shares structural and functional characteristics with LIF, IL-6, and CNTF.
