Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of HDAC8 only when phosphorylated at Serine 39.
Target Information
In the intact cell, DNA closely associates with histones and other nuclear proteins to form chromatin. Chromatin remodeling is a key component of transcriptional regulation, driven largely by histone acetylation. Acetylation of lysine residues in histone tails increases DNA accessibility to transcription factors, whereas deacetylation is associated with transcriptional silencing. Mammalian HDAC8, isolated from human kidney, is a nuclear histone deacetylase sharing homology with other HDACs but showing distinct tissue distribution. HDAC8 plays a role in tissue development and cancer etiology.
