Target Information
PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. It regulates actin cytoskeleton reorganization, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling. PTK2B is essential for normal humoral immune response, marginal B-cell levels in the spleen, and migration of splenic B-cells. It functions downstream of integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating responses to cellular stress. Aberrant expression is associated with cancer proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis, with elevated levels in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung, and breast cancers.
