Target Information
Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) is a 125 kDa non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase acting as a substrate for Src and playing a key role in integrin signaling.
FAK regulates cell spreading, differentiation, migration, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression (G1 to S phase).
It localizes to focal adhesions via its C-terminal tail and mediates interactions with extracellular matrix through integrin receptors.
Phosphorylation of FAK tyrosines increases upon integrin engagement with fibronectin, promoting association with Grb2 and c-Src and activation of ERK2 MAP kinase.
FAK gene has several transcript variants encoding different isoforms, with three full-length forms characterized.
