Target Information
The TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that acts as a major regulator of thyroid cell metabolism. It serves as a receptor for thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Mutations in this gene are associated with various forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
