Product Specific Information

The TS2/16 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD29 (integrin beta 1), an approximately 130 kDa single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein. CD29 forms heterodimers with integrin alpha subunits to create the VLA (very late antigen) family of adhesion molecules involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion. CD29 is broadly expressed on lymphocytes and monocytes, with lower levels on granulocytes. The TS2/16 antibody exhibits activating activity for β1 integrins.

Each product contains:

• 1 vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Compatibility Notes:
NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., PI, 7-AAD, DAPI). Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for viability testing.

CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer:
Updated formulation (Cat. No. C001T06F01) provides improved performance. Add 5 µL per sample before mixing with cells for optimal staining. For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, CD29)
A 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by various cell types, including all leukocytes. Forms heterodimers with multiple alpha chains (α1–α6), defining β1 (VLA) integrins. Functions in cell adhesion, platelet activation, and extracellular matrix binding. Altered expression correlates with tumor multidrug resistance and immune cell migration. Two major isoforms exist: β1A (ubiquitous) and β1D (cardiac/skeletal muscle).
