Product Specific Information

This Bu20a monoclonal antibody reacts with 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU), a uridine derivative incorporated into DNA during the S-phase of the cell cycle. Anti-BrdU antibodies are used to identify cells that have undergone DNA synthesis during BrdU treatment.

For flow cytometric staining, use the BrdU Staining Buffer Set (Product # 00-5525) and protocol.

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated mouse splenocytes using the Foxp3/Transcription Staining Buffer Set (Product # 00-5523-00) or the BrdU Staining Buffer Set (Product # 00-5525-00).
Use at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Bromodeoxyuridine (5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine, BrdU) is a synthetic nucleoside analogue of thymidine. It is incorporated into newly synthesized DNA of replicating cells during the S phase, allowing detection of proliferating cells in living tissues.
Detection requires DNA denaturation, typically by acid or heat treatment.
