This YCATE55.9 monoclonal antibody reacts with canine CD8 alpha.
CD8α is expressed as a heterodimer (CD8α/β) or homodimer (CD8α/α) on thymocytes, mature T cells, NK cells, and intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs).
It binds to MHC class I and is involved in thymocyte development and T cell activation.

This antibody has been reported to inhibit cytotoxic T cell generation and function in vitro, and to be immunosuppressive in vivo.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested on normal canine peripheral blood cells
Use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein in the immunoglobulin receptor family.
It plays a key role in signal transduction and T cell differentiation and activation.
CD8 is expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer (CD8α/β), functioning as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC class I molecules.
CD8α is essential for MHC-I binding and is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck activation, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs are crucial for pathogen and tumor clearance.
Differentiation of naive CD8⁺ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
