- In Western blot, this antibody detects a band at approximately 52 kDa in NIH-3T3 whole cell lysate.
- Rabbit anti-PPAR alpha antibody detects an epitope within the N-terminal region of human peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARA), a member of the nuclear hormone receptor subfamily.
Target Information
Peroxisome proliferators are non-genotoxic carcinogens that exert their effects through interaction with nuclear hormone receptors known as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs). These ligand-dependent intracellular proteins stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to DNA sequences following ligand activation.
PPARs are activated by compounds such as clofibric acid, nafenopin, WY-14,643, and certain fatty acids. They can induce transcription of acyl coenzyme A oxidase and cytochrome P450 (CYP450) A6 through interaction with specific response elements. PPARs also heterodimerize with retinoid X receptor (RXR) alpha, similar to other nuclear hormone receptors.
