- 1 µg/mL of MA5-27638 was sufficient for detection of Versican in 20 µg of mouse brain membrane lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects >350 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S351-23.
Target Information
Versican is a large aggregating proteoglycan belonging to the same family as aggrecan, brevican, and neurocan. It is widely distributed in fibrous, articular, and elastic cartilages, as well as nervous, epidermal, arterial, and loose connective tissues. Versican V1 enhances cell proliferation, induces cell transformation, and protects cells from apoptosis by downregulating proapoptotic Bad expression.
Versican’s presence in the extracellular matrix of human airways suggests a potential inflammatory role in asthma.
