1 µg/mL of MA5-27640 was sufficient for detection of ASIC1 in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 60 kDa.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S271-44.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. Members of this family are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop rich in conserved cysteine residues.
ASIC1 is expressed in most brain neurons and functions as a proton-gated cation channel with high affinity for sodium. It is permeable to Ca²⁺, Li⁺, and K⁺, and is expressed in dorsal root ganglia, sciatic nerves, olfactory bulb, cortical regions, hippocampal subfields, amygdala, cerebellum, and other brain regions.
Isoform 3 is expressed only in dorsal root ganglion, while isoform 1 is expressed in DRG, spinal cord, trigeminal ganglia, and the trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus.
