Product Specific Information

The ICBTACLS monoclonal antibody reacts with the hormone insulin, responsible for regulation of carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells within the islets of Langerhans promotes glucose uptake and glycogen storage.
Type 1 diabetes results from autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing beta-cells, while type 2 diabetes involves insulin resistance. Insulin also contributes to vascular elasticity and cognitive functions including learning and memory.
This antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat insulin.

The ICBTACLS antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues using low or high pH antigen retrieval and can be used at ≤0.5 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined experimentally.

Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by pancreatic beta cells that regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism. It enhances cellular uptake of glucose and amino acids, promotes glycogen and triglyceride formation, and supports protein and nucleic acid synthesis.
It is produced as proinsulin, which is cleaved into two chains (A and B) linked by disulfide bonds and one C-peptide molecule.
Insulin deficiency leads to diabetes mellitus and is also found in insulin-producing tumors such as insulinoma.
