This antibody recognizes an epitope included within amino acids 8–23 of STAT1, a 91 kDa transcriptional factor involved in antiviral responses and interferon alpha (IFN-α) and gamma (IFN-γ) signal transduction.
Recommended condition: Western Blot under reducing conditions.

Target Information

STAT1 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. It can be activated by interferon-α, interferon-γ, EGF, PDGF, and IL-6. STAT1 regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, and lipid metabolism.
Located on chromosome 2, STAT1 is phosphorylated by JAK kinases and translocates to the nucleus to regulate transcription. Among the seven STAT types, STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, and STAT5b have wide activation profiles. STAT1 is activated by ligands such as IFN family (IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1). Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
