Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They combine multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing both the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies and the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, with the consistency of recombinant production.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, enabling higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a known mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducibility and eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

This gene encodes a mitochondrial membrane protein involved in mitochondrial fusion and maintenance of the mitochondrial network. It regulates vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and may play a role in obesity-related pathophysiology.

Mutations in this gene are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2A2 and hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy VI, both affecting the peripheral nervous system. Defects have also been linked to early-onset stroke. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
