Target Information
CXCR2 is a receptor for interleukin-8 (IL-8), a powerful neutrophil chemotactic factor and a member of the GPCR family.
Binding of IL-8 to CXCR2 activates neutrophils through a G-protein-mediated phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
CXCR2 binds IL-8, GRO/MGSA, and NAP-2 with high affinity and is expressed in a wide variety of tissues.
ESTs have been isolated from human placenta and thymus libraries.
